Exciting Changes at Pointe Orlando Cater to Meetings and Conventions
Meetings attendees at the Orange County Convention Center will find some exciting changes taking place at one of their favorite shopping, dining and entertainment complexes, Pointe Orlando.
The Pointe, located across from the convention center, is nearing completion of a multi-million dollar redevelopment that is bringing new, high-quality restaurants with space for groups, brand-name retail and entertainment venues and a more inviting overall atmosphere to the entertainment complex by winter 2007.
Plans include new storefronts reminiscent of a city streetscape, brick-paved paths, shaded outdoor seating, a plaza and signature entryway, lush landscaping and water features, as well as patio seating, valet parking and International Drive visibility and accessibility for each of its new anchor restaurants.
Among the new restaurants and retailers:
The Capital Grille opened its first Orlando restaurant at Pointe Orlando in March 2006, featuring premium, dry-aged steaks in an upscale, plush surrounding. Private dining is available for groups and special events. Valet parking and outdoor dining are also available for the convenience of guests.
Maggiano's Little Italy opened its first Orlando location at Pointe Orlando in January 2007. Maggiano's features authentic Italian fare in a relaxed setting, where guests can enjoy a home-cooked meal featuring either family-style or single servings. Private rooms are available for group functions.
Tommy Bahama Tropical Café & Emporium feature men's and women's clothing, accessories and home furnishings as well as a full-service restaurant with a relaxed, island theme. One of only six in the country, this café and shop reflects the laid-back state of mind that is the Tommy Bahama philosophy. Tommy Bahama Tropical Café & Emporium opened in December 2006.
The Grape is an upscale wine concept that combines a wine bar, serving small plate gourment fare, with a wine retailer. More than 120 wines are available under one roof at The Grape which opened in December 2006.
The Oceanaire Seafood Room will feature fresh seafood flown in daily from around the world and served in a well-appointed setting. A new menu will be printed daily, emphasizing the quality of fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients that will go into each regionally inspired dish. It is scheduled to open in winter 2007 and will be the first of its kind in Central Florida.
Also opening this winter is Taverna Opa, featuring authenic Greek cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Known for its festive atmosphere, it will offer entertainment such as belly dancing and Greek music on the weekends.
Coming in early-2007, BB King's Blues Club will be located on the second level of Pointe Orlando, featuring nightly entertainment including local, regional and national acts along with a full-service bar and restaurant. The club will also be available for private events.
Many of the existing retail stores and restaurants, as well as Muvico Pointe 21 Theatres and WonderWorks, remain open to the public throughout the redevelopment.
