Your safety is important to us. For more than 15 years, Orlando's hospitality industry and law enforcement agencies have proudly led the nation in visitor safety programs. Most of our efforts go totally unnoticed by our guests; we think that's how it should be.

Suggested Safety Tips

Whether at home or visiting another city or country, you should always practice common-sense safety and security. Below are suggested safety tips that you should follow no matter where you are.

  • Always lock your front and/or patio doors when in the room and when leaving. Use the safety chain/lock for security.
  • Never open your room door unless you know who is there. If you did not call for hotel service offered by the person at the door, call hotel security or the front desk to see if they have sent someone to your room.
  • Place valuables in a hotel safety deposit box or safe in your room.
  • When checking into a hotel, consult the floor plan map on the back of your room door to familiarize yourself with fire and emergency exits.
  • When driving, keep all car doors locked and "buckle up."
  • Park in well-lighted areas and check the interior of the vehicle and surrounding areas before entering the car.
  • If you must leave valuables in your vehicle, remember to secure them in the trunk.
  • Never display large amounts of cash when making simple purchases. If possible, use credit cards or travelers checks.
  • When at the pool or beach, never leave purses, wallets or keys unattended. Keep track of your keys at all times.
  • If someone suspicious approaches your vehicle while stopped at a traffic light or sign, blow the horn.
  • Should you see anything or anyone suspicious, call 9-1-1 (police/sheriff) or hotel management.
  • Ask hotel personnel specific directions when you are driving and for the most direct route to your destination.
  • Remember to remove your name badge when not attending meetings.
